Welcome to the Dame Catherine 18th Annual Summer Art Exhibition Website
Now in its 18th year, the Ticknall Art Exhibition has grown in size and success. It is a well-established event attracting buyers and artists from around the country but focused on Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, and Staffordshire. In 2010 over one hundred and ninety professional and amateur artists exhibited, generating almost twenty thousand pounds worth of sales.
This year we have selected Dorothy Arkwright who has been painting for about 30 years since retiring from nursery school teaching. Although she attends classes and workshops Dorothy enjoys experimenting with art and "doing my own thing", and works in both watercolour and acrylic. We chose Dorothy this year because she has exhibited with us for the last ten years and been a supporter since the first show was held in 1994.
This annual exhibition has become a major show for artists in the Midlands and was originally set up as a fundraiser by parents of children attending the village school Dame Catherine Harpur's for which it still raises considerable funds.
