Dame Catherine Arts is the biggest and best open exhibition of art outside London.
Welcome to the Dame Catherine 21st Annual Summer Art Exhibition Website
Now in its 21st year, the Ticknall Art Exhibition has grown in size and success. It is a well-established event attracting buyers and artists from around the country but focused on Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, and Staffordshire. 2013 proved to be another incredible year; we had over 215 artists, exhibiting over 1100 pieces of original art work which generated over £18,600 worth of sales.
Featured Artist for 2013: Sheila Richards
Sheila Richards is our featured artist, she entered her work at our very first exhibition twenty years ago and her valuable advise made the first show possible. As a young child Sheila started going to art classes on Saturday mornings, This extended as she got older to full time courses until she got a job in the design department for Webb-Corbett Tutbury Glass. Here she used her artistic skills in design, engraving and enameling. Her art was put to one side when bringing up her family and she really started painting in earnest when she took early retirement, working mainly in water-colours, pastels and mixed media. Now a great grandmother Sheila still experiments with her art, exhibits her work and teaches voluntarily.
This annual exhibition has become a major show for artists in the Midlands and was originally set up as a fundraiser by parents of children attending the village school Dame Catherine Harpur's for which it still raises considerable funds.
