The Dame Catherine 22nd Annual Summer Art Exhibition

Dame Catherine Arts is the biggest and best open exhibition of art outside London.

Welcome

Welcome to the Dame Catherine 22nd Annual Summer Art Exhibition Website

Now in its 22nd year, the Dame Catherine Arts Summer Exhibition brings the sleepy Derbyshire village of Ticknall alive as hundreds of buyers flock to view over 1000 pieces of original art from over 200 artists.

Originally set up as a fundraiser to help support the village school, the Art Show continues to generate a key source of income for a range of projects at the Dame Catherine Harpur's School. Building on the now completed school house project, we're moving outside, and the proceeds from this year's show will help support work in the garden and the creation of a Forest School learning environment - fostering creativity and the love of the outdoors for all.

Entries are now being invited from artists who would like to exhibit with us. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in the biggest painting show outside of London which last year generated over 16,000 of sales!

This year's featured artist is the highly respected and collectible local artist, John Connolly. "We are very excited to have John as part of this years show," Deb explained, "He is going to lead our first ever talk and demonstration, his charisma and unusual approach will ensure an entertaining and informative evening." After teaching both Art and drama for several years John now works as a professional artist. His focus on landscapes includes the sweeping horizons of Derbyshire Peak district, North Yorkshire Moors and the shorelines of Cornwall. For interesting textures John often uses found materials, also the flicking scratching and throwing of paint. He produces work with drama and emotion, trying to provoke feelings of remoteness and sense of place.
